The FIRST DEADLINE is for the student to have their research plan approved before the start of the experimentation by the parent, teacher/mentor, and when required, an Internal Review Board, a Scientific Review Committee, or a research lab's safety and rules governing board (such as an University Laboratory Animal Care Committee (ULACC) or Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Institutional Bio-safety Committee (IBC) or Committee on Infectious Biohazards (CIB), etc. Check with your mentor and show your mentor your ISEF required forms to get the correct forms signed by the correct committee approval.) BEFORE the experiment may begin. If in doubt, email your name, grade, and complete research plan to src@tcrsf.org for SRC pre-approval.

 

Deadlines and Important Dates Summary:

 

Anytime Judges, volunteers, and teachers may register or update their records at any time.
 
Before experimentation:   have project research plan approved by parent, teacher/mentor, and for projects requiring one or more of the additional forms (1C, 4 through 6B), appropriate review boards approval, as mentioned in the first paragraph above.
 
Tuesday, January 3, 2017 Student registration is open for 2017 projects and papers
 
January 28, 2017   Award Sponsors’ Deadline for Preapproval of Special Awards to be offered in 2017
 
Wednesday, February 1, 2017 Registration deadline online for research papers and projects. Register & submit electronic abstracts and research papers by 10:00 pm CST.

Friday setup and judging, Saturday open to public & awards - at the University of Minnesota Field House - Twin Cities Regional Science Fairs
NOTE: TCRSF requires that ALL TEAM members of a team project must all be present at judging on Friday night and that ALL ISEF winners must be at the Saturday Award Ceremony and the Sunday afternoon Twin Cities ISEF team meeting (location & time will be announced just after the award ceremony).
 
Sunday, February 26, 2017 Twin Cities ISEF team meeting - location & time will be announced just after the award ceremony – This is for ALL ISEF award winners, ISEF award alternates, and ALL ADULTS (teachers, parents, or other interested adults) who want to be considered for attending ISEF as part of our official party.
 
Tuesday, February 28, 2017 requested deadline for students selected to compete at state (paper or project) let TCRSF know (RSVP-regrets) if they cannot attend state, so that TCRSF has time to contact an alternate.
 
March 7, 2017 deadline to register for Minnesota State Science and Engineering Fair and JSHS North Central Regional HS paper competition
 
March 25-26, 2017 JSHS North Central Regional Science & Humanities Symposium (high school research paper competition)
 
March 26-27, 2017 Minnesota State Science and Engineering Fair (all grades project competition and middle school research paper competition)
 
May 3-7, 2017 ISWEEEP – International Sustainable World Energy Engineering Environment Project Olympiad in Houston, Texas.
